Well done to all of the hard working staff and students in achieving .......
a 15% reduction in the School's Carbon footprint. On Friday the 26th, Rachael and Emma from the Crichton Carbon Centre, visited the school and gave feedback of the surveys the 2nd year had conducted.
'The pupil led Project involved hands on work to collect the data required to calculate the schools' carbon footprints, including energy and water bills as well as waste, food and travel data. This approach is seen to be useful in opening the pupils' eyes to the huge energy and resource consumption, as well as greenhouse gas emissions, associated with everyday activities.'
They were impressed with the significant inroads the school has made in educating all in Castle Douglas High school.
As well as their visit, the RSPB and Natural Power gave the 2nd years something to think about with stirring presentations.
The students have been working hard all week , creating posters, designing T-shirts, working on a debate, writing poetry , directing a short film in French and much, much more.
Best Maths presentation was awarded to Shona,Holly,Jemma and Jenny.
Fantastic Four Debate featured Natalie,Amber,Karen and Eilidh.
The Poetry winners were Jenny, Cameron and Amber.
The RE T-shirt winners were Holly,Rhys and Adrienne.
The Geography poster prizes went to Eilidh,Chloe and Ellie.
